MILDRED VOGELSANG


Mildred Vogelsang, 98, passed away on the evening of June 9, 2026 at her home in Godfrey, Illinois with her family at her side. Millie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, big sister, aunt, cousin, and a good friend to many. She was a kind, generous, strong willed, and humorous woman who loved all sports and excelled at most.

She married the late John D. (Jack) Vogelsang December 30, 1950 at St. Mary’s, forming a bond that would last close to 65 years. She raised 3 daughters and that kept her busy for the next 30 years.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. She was laid to rest at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

Linda Darlene Donato, 84, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Linda was born December 27, 1941 in Alton, Illinois to Harold and Lorene (Ramsey) Mayhall.

She married Jack Donato on September 15, 1990 in Alton Illinois.


Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 4pm till 7pm at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10am on Friday, June 12, 2026 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, IL. with burial following at Valhalla Memorial Park.

MARILYN C. FISHER


Marilyn C. (Kelemen) Fisher, age 82, of Godfrey, Illinois peacefully passed away on May 27, 2026 with her loving husband of over 26 years, Larry Fisher, by her side, after a seven-month battle of being in and out of hospitals and rehabs with a dreaded blood disease. She was a devoted wife, mom, Maw Maw, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her loving children and grandchildren.


A prayer service will begin at 12:45 p.m. followed by visitation until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Gent Funeral Home, 2409 State St., Alton, IL 62002. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2026 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 820 W. Homer M. Adams Pkwy., Godfrey, IL 62035. Father Steve Janoski will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

VIRGINIA FIEDLER


Virginia Fiedler, 100, affectionately known as “Mom,” “Ginny,” “Grandma,” or “Gigi,” of Godfrey, Illinois, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and her beloved dog Bogart, on May 25, 2026.

She was born on July 13, 1925, in Calhoun County, Illinois, to Andrew Robeen and Margaret Arnold. On July 24, 1944, she married the love of her life, Karl C. “Bud” Fiedler.


Virginia is survived by three children including parishioner Stephen Fiedler (Pina Fiedler), her grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, her nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Bogart.


A Celebration of Life will be held at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church on June 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon. Burial will be at Wilson Cemetery, Batchtown, Illinois.

Allyn “Wayne” Hensley, 83, died at on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Wayne served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as owner/operator of Inzone Barber Shop. On May 15, 1965 he married the former Joan C. Hollenback in St. Louis, MO. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, two grandchildren, and two brothers.


A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2026 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Father Steve Janoski will officiate. She is survived by her husband of over four decades, Steve Kochan, with whom she shared a blessed union since December 29, 1984. Thelma's legacy lives on through her daughter, two stepsons including parishioner Tom Kochan (Erin), and her seven treasured granddaughters including Averie and Aly Kochan.


A funeral Mass was held on May 27 at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Bethalto with Father John Wykes, OMV as celebrant.

Margaret Mary “Marge” Wisnasky, 90, passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.


She graduated Marquette Catholic High School in Alton, Illinois, in 1954. While attending Marquette, she met the love of her life, Ron Wisnasky, and the two were married on November 24, 1956.

Margaret is survived by two children, including parishioner Ron (Pennie) Wisnasky, 5 grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two sisters.


A private family visitation was held at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey on May 27, 2026, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ambrose Catholic Church and interment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey, IL. ROBERT EUGENE PUENT


Robert Eugene Puent, known as Bob to his family and friends, of Florissant, Missouri, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the age of 81.


As a devout Catholic, Bob’s faith guided him through life, imparting wisdom and grace to those around him. He leaves behind a loving legacy that includes his devoted wife of 53 years, Judy Puent; loving children, Laura Reeves, Christine (Carlos) Sanchez, Karen (Mike) McCann, Eric (Gari) Puent, and Julie (Chuck) Behrman; his sister, parishioner Barb Hawley; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, their extended families and friends.


Services: Funeral services were held on May 18, 2026, at Shepard Funeral Chapel in St. Louis, Missouri. Bob was laid to rest in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery and presented with Military Honors.

LARRY H. BUHS


Larry H. Buhs, 85, died at 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at La Bella of Edwardsville. On December 2, 1961 he married the former Carol Sue Churchill in Alton. She survives. Along with his wife, he is survived by four daughters, including parishioner Dr. Stephanie Monroe (Joe). Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, including Bella & Christian Monroe, eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and one brother.

Charles E. “Chuck” Corbin, 62, of Alton, Illinois, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. He was the son of parishioners Nancy J. (Zimmer) Corbin of Alton and the late Paul E. Corbin.


A celebration of Chuck’s life was held on April 10, 2026 at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River followed by a funeral service officiated by Father Stephen Janoski. Burial followed at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
